How do I obtain an item the Library doesn't own?

Answer

If you want something and we don’t have it what you need to do is request a copy and this is known as a resource request - https://librarysearch.exeter.ac.uk/discovery/blankIll?vid=44UOEX_INST:default

To do this you can find this at the top of our Library Search [catalogue]
https://librarysearch.exeter.ac.uk/discovery/search?vid=44UOEX_INST:default&lang=en

under :

On the form this launches you can request a whole book or article :

Or you can just ask for a chapter or set of pages :

So complete the form as fully as you possible can, the more information you give the quicker it can be and then

A purple arrow with black text

The other way to approach this is you can search for the article on the catalogue :

and then see if a link to  get the full text  comes up:

I select the item by clicking on the title and check if the Library owns it and then if not at the bottom is ‘Get a Digital copy’

A screenshot of a email

Select ‘Get It’ and you can complete the form  and select ‘Send’ :

If the item is easily available it will be with you by email very quickly, if it’s harder to get hold of we will need to intervene and it may take longer but keep checking your emails.
