What’s the difference between a reference list and a bibliography?

Answer

A reference list is a detailed list of all of the references you have used in your assignment or project, whereas a bibliography is broader than this. Bibliographies contain a detailed list of all of the references you have included in your assignment, but also details of any other sources that you have used for background reading which you may not have cited in your assignment.

You should always check with your module tutor or supervisor or view your module handbook to determine whether a reference list or bibliography is required for your specific piece of work.
