Why do I have to download an app in order to download e-books?

Answer

E-books and e-textbooks feature Digital Rights Management (DRM). This is how publishers enforce copyright compliance for their electronic publications. With most of our e-book suppliers, DRM means that e-books can only be read online. Others, however, allow you to read their content offline with an app such as Adobe Digital Editions that allows for continuous offline DRM. Click here to download from the App Store and click here to download from the Google Play Store.
