Why am I seeing an "Institution not set" error message when I try to access Kortext?

This error usually occurs either because:

  1. You have clicked the link through to Kortext from the Access Your Library box on your module ELE page and Kortext is unable to connect to your module in ELE; or
  2. You have registered as a Kortext user with your personal email address; or
  3. There is a more serious underlying problem with your Kortext account.

Answer

If you see this error message when attempting to access Kortext from ELE, just get in touch and tell us the module code and we'll liaise with Kortext to ensure that your module is configured correctly.

If you see this error message and you are aware that you used a personal email address when you first registered for Kortext, log out and try accessing a Kortext e-textbook from Library Search instead. You will then be asked to sign in vis single sign on using your Exeter email and password on the University of Exeter-branded single sign-on page. An account will then be created for you automatically using your Exeter email address and the error should not reoccur.

If the error persists or if you never registered using a personal email address, just get in touch and let us know your Exeter University email address. We'll contact Kortext on your behalf and ask them to reset your account.
